Leeches after use

Once the procedurę is over, the leeches used in the therapy should be stored into one container and get destroyed. They can be destroyed by immersing them in a solution of alcohol and then, getting burned. They can be also given to those who utilize the biohazardous waste. Never throw them away! Leeches must never be reused on another patient (even close relatives), however it is possible to apply them onto the same person (if the procedure was made at home, not in the cabinet). In that case, the animals will be ready to get applied after 3,5 – 4 months – the active healing compounds need time to get restored.
